This month we hosted our Spring Scholastic Book Fair April 4th - 8th. The theme was "Feelin' Groovy!" and based on the 1960's and flower children/hippies. We decorated the library with tie-dyed decorations and had lots of fun selling the newest books from Scholastic to our Casey Crocodiles. We were able to raise money for more library programming and books. Thank you for your support!
I also able to travel to Houston, TX to attend the Texas Library Association Annual Conference. This is an annual meeting for all the librarians in Texas. We get together to learn about the newest books, cutting edge technology, the latest and most innovative programming to use in our libraries. We also get to meet famous authors! This year I was able to meet Jeff Kinney, the author of the "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" series and Dav Pilkey, the author of "Captain Underpants". They were so excited to meet us and to tell us that they want all of you to enjoy reading. Both authors suffered from ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) when they were children..and even now as adults...and they wanted to tell you that "if they can be successful, YOU can be successful." The most important thing you can do is learn to read and become life long readers!
I'm including pictures of the book fair and of my meetings with these 2 AWESOME authors!
